Pengaruh Minat Baca dan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis terhadap Keterampilan Membaca Intensif

Abstract


The study aims to analyze and test the truth of the hypothesis regarding the Influence of Reading Interest and Critical Thinking Skills on Intensive Reading Skills. The research hypotheses tested include: 1) the influence of reading interest and critical thinking skills together on intensive reading skills. 2) the influence of reading interest on intensive reading skills. 3). the influence of critical thinking skills on intensive reading skills. The study was conducted using a survey method. The population was grade VII students of junior high schools in South Tangerang City with a sample size of 79 students. The research instrument used was a questionnaire on reading interest and intensive reading skills taken from test items. Data analysis used survey research with multiple regression. The results of the hypothesis testing obtained the following conclusions: 1) There is a significant influence of reading interest and critical thinking skills together on the intensive reading skills of junior high school students in Tangerang City. This is evidenced by the Sig.= 0.000 <0.05 and Fcount = 146.613. 2) There is a significant influence of reading interest on the intensive reading skills of junior high school students in South Tangerang City. This is proven by the acquisition of Sig.= 0.000 < 0.05 and Thitung = 3.254. 3) There is a significant influence of critical thinking skills on intensive reading skills of junior high school students in South Tangerang City. This is proven by the acquisition of Sig.= 0.002 < 0.05 and Thitung = 8.954. The results of this study are useful for improving the quality of learning, increasing students' interest in reading, increasing critical thinking skills, increasing interest in learning, and improving intensive reading skills.
