REPRESENTASI FEMINISME DAN KESETARAAN GENDER DALAM FILM TUHAN IZINKAN AKU BERDOSA DAN GADIS KRETEK

Abstract

Semiotic research on the film "God Allows Me to Sin" by director Hanung Bramnatyo and the film "Gadis Kretek" reveals the representation of feminism and gender equality. The analysis of signs and symbols depicts women's struggle against the dominance of masculinity and the search for equal rights, seen in Kiran's character who comes from a simple family, aspiring to devote her life to the way of God. However, his life journey was filled with challenges, including economic problems that forced him to accept a marriage offer from a cleric who turned out to be married. Slandered and exiled, Kiran was forced to take a different path, even falling into the world of prostitution as a form of rebellion and search for identity. Meanwhile, Dasiyah in the film "Kretek Girl" is a resistance to patriarchal norms, discrimination against women, and how the past can affect the future.
